Must have! By amerchelle Sometimes the instructor seemed to be speaking a different language when he attempted to tackle his “how-to” list in my Legal Writing class. This book is like your Spanish-English dictionary in that once you open it, suddenly it all makes sense. Not only did it spell out, with examples, hot to write various documents common in a legal office, it gives your grammar a refresh and common mistakes reference. This isn’t the kind of book you utilize for a semester, it’s a keeper!

Excellent resource By lmic Very useful! My legal writing professor assigns it in conjunction with the also-excellent “Legal Research, Analysis, and Writing” by Hames and Ekern. The professor’s opinion is that Bouchoux provides the more applied, pragmatic, approach of the two books, and I agree. Well written, clear examples of briefs and other documents, and enough grammar (3 chapters’ worth) to put us on the right path without being overwhelming.
